A coalition of unions and community groups is working to place on the statewide ballot this fall a constitutional amendment to raise Ohio’s minimum wage by nearly 50 percent to 13-dollars an hour by 2025.
The group called Ohioans for Raising the Wage has submitted more than 1 thousand petition signatures to the state. The group must gather nearly 423 thousand valid signatures by July 1. The group says the current wage puts a family of four three thosuand dollars below the federal poverty level.
