DeWine Seeks New Applicants For PUCO Seat

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine faced swift criticism from consumer advocates Wednesday after he rejected the slate of candidates to replace the former top state utility regulator tainted by the 60 million dollar federal bribery investigation, and requested a new list. The Republican governor wrote the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio's Nominating Council that the first list included “appropriate” candidates but he wants more names. Consumer groups said by rejecting experienced, consumer-friendly candidates to fill the vacancy created by the November 20 resignation of then-Chair Sam Randazzo, DeWine was catering to utilities.
