Ex-Cincinnati Council Member Gets 18 Month Sentence For Corruption

newsbreak.com

Former Democratic Cincinnati City Council member Tamaya Dennard has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to allegations of exchanging votes for cash. Dennard pleaded guilty to wire fraud in exchange for prosecutors dropping bribery and attempted extortion charges.  Her attorneys asked for leniency and home confinement due to COVID-19 concerns.  Because of those concerns, she does not have to report for incarceration until March. Meanwhile, Ohio Attorney General David Yost is seeking the suspension of Democratic Cincinnati City Council member PG Sittenfeld, who has been indicted on corruption charges. Yost admits public corruption cases are resolved in the courtroom, but a suspension is the right course of action.  Sittenfeld has pleaded not guilty.
