Sherwood Middle School Student Fatally Struck On Near East Side

A Sherwood Middle School 6th grader was fatally struck in a hit-and-run accident on the east side this morning.

Columbus Police say 11-year old Elizabeth Robertson Rutland was crossing McNaughen Road near East Main Street when she was hit by 61-year old Lisa Wolf, of Pickerington, knocking the girl into the oncoming traffic.  Rutland was then hit by a second car that didn't stop.  The investigation is ongoing.  Counsellors were on hand for students and staff at Sherwood today.
