DeWine Creates Working Group To Study Police Use Of Force Training

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine has directed the state police training commission to study possible updates in officer instruction in use of force.  The Republican DeWine says recent police shootings across the country show this is one area that has not been examined. He has created a working group of primarily police officials and faith leaders to examine the issue. Ohio's officer-involved shootings include the death last summer of a 22-year-old man carrying an air rifle in a Beavercreek store and the death last month of a 12-year-old boy carrying a pellet gun in Cleveland. 50 Dayton area residents, including the parents of Beavercreek victim John Crawford the Third, will take part in a national march against police use of force in Washington, DC  today.  Resident Iris Blanchard says she's fed up with seeing people she knows targeted by police.

The Dayton group  will join the relatives of others recently killed by police.
