The state auditor's office says nearly 30 companies owe the Columbus City Schools thousands of dollars after an investigation uncovered years of fraud against the district. The audit shows the district paid 850-thousand-dollars in federal funds for tutoring services that were never provided. The audit says private tutors faked attendance at their services.The Ohio Attorney General's office says it will seek restitution, but many of the companies no longer exist. The Apostolic Faith Temple on the East side must repay the largest amount, 312 thousand dollars, for improperly billing the tutoring program. The audit says the district did not do enough to uncover the fraud in the federal No Child Left Behind program.
