Ohio's unemployment rate for October is 4.4 percent, down by a tenth of a point from September. The decline continues a recent trend. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services says non-farm payrolls rose by nearly 31 thousand last month. 5.43 million Ohioans have jobs, 74 hundred more than during the start of the Great Recession. October saw job gains in education, health care, manufacturing, and leisure and hospitality. The largest monthly declines were in the local and state government sectors. The U.S. unemployment rate for October is 5 percent, down a tenth of a point from September.
