State Sends New Charter School Performance Data To Feds

education.ohio.gov

Ohio schools superintendent Lonny Rivera has submitted new charter school performance data to federal regulators deciding whether to release a 71 million grant awarded to the state. Rivera says Ohio has 10 times as many failing charter schools and half as many high-performing ones as previously reported. He says Ohio has 57 poor-performing charters, not the six reported in the state's grant application in July.Federal regulators put the grant disbursement on hold in November after the state's School Choice director admitted he rigged charter school sponsor evaluations to make them look better.
