Council Approves One Tax Break, Amends Two Others

Columbus City Council last night approved one business tax break and amended two others. Council approved a 5 year, 50 percent income tax break for Engage Holdings, a software company that is moving 2 jobs from Dublin to downtown and creating 25 other jobs. Columbus Development Director Steve Schoeny.

The company hopes to sign a lease this month. Council amended a 2014 tax break given to Universal Fabricating and Construction Services in Franklinton to retain 40 jobs and create 30 others. Schoeny says the firm went under.

Council also amended a 2014 tax break given to Cincinnati-based Kroger to create over 100 jobs at a facility near Rickenbacker Airport.

As part of the deal, the grocer pledged to renovate the 35 thousand square foot facilty.
