Newark City Council Approves Anti-Discrimination Ordinance

newarkohio.net

Newark City Council last night approved a measure banning discrimination based on sexual orientation. Backers say it will extend equal employment and fair housing protections to members of the LGBT community. Openly gay council member Jeremy Blake introduced the ordinance to amend the equal employment, fair housing and ethnic intimidation portions of city law. The ordinance will go into effect next month.
