Kasich Seeks Clemency Hearing For 'Coingate' Figure

WCBE files

Republican Ohio Governor John Kasich has asked the state Parole Board to hold a hearing on a clemency request for a former GOP donor and Toledo-area coin dealer convicted in the state's 'Coingate' scandal.

The board last month recommended against clemency for Tom Noe, despite not holding a hearing. Noe was sentenced to 18 years in prison for stealing from a multi-million dollar rare coin fund he oversaw for the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation. Noe's wife is seeking a clemency ruling.
