State Says Death Row Inmate's Passing Likely Caused By COVID-19

Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction

An Ohio death row inmate who survived an execution attempt died Monday, with COVID-19 as the suspected cause.

State prisons officials say 64-year-old Romell Broom is on the agency's “COVID probable list” pending a death certificate. His 2009 lethal injection was called off after two hours when technicians were unable to find a suitable vein.
