Harmony Project puts on another inspirational concert this week. How It Feels To Be Free: The Concert For Community will feature the nation's largest community chorus on stage at the Ohio Theatre. The sold-out show will include performances by incarcerated adults from Central Ohio prisons, exploring themes of self-realization and community transformation through songs and stories of hope, redemption, and freedom.
It's part of the mission for Harmony Project, formed in Columbus in 2009 to build a stronger and more inclusive community through the arts and volunteer services. In this special edition of Music Journeys, we chat with Harmony Project's founder and creative director David Brown about his own journey and how he turned this idea into a reality. We'll mix in some of the behind-the-scenes work of Harmony Project, including how the power of music, community, and purpose transform the attitudes and outlook of those who participate.
We have some fun with David at the end as he agreed to carry on the tradition started by Tano Jones - singing the responses to the Fast Five. We close things out with Harmony Project's rendition of Downtown. Thanks for listening.
