The Columbus Board of Education last night voted to sell the vacant Southeast Career Center building to a nearby construction firm for just over 1 million dollars.
The building and land were appraised at 1.7 million. It's not clear what the buyer will do with the property. The board put 13 other surplus properties on the auction block, estimating sales could reach 33 million dollars. The board also approved a one-year, 650 thousand dollar contract to allow high school students to ride Central Ohio Transit Authority buses at a discount to get to internships. The discounts would also apply to charter school students living within the district's boundaries
