At Tuesday's coronavirus press conference Ohio Governor Mike DeWine called out several school districts including Columbus City Schools, that aren't on track to have all students back in school at least part time by March 1rst.  At Tuesday evening's school board meeting officials say there's solid and systemic reasons why that won't happen.  Alison Holm has more.

Data from K-12 schools that reopened for in-person instruction in the fall show little evidence that schools contributed meaningfully to the spread of COVID-19, according to a new article published Tuesday in JAMA, the journal of the American Medical Association.

Ohio’s k-12 schools will begin vaccinating their employees later this week.

Ohio's eight largest teachers unions, including the Columbus Education Association, are denouncing the way Ohio Governor DeWine is rushing a return to in-person classes weeks before school staff are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Columbus City Schools are proceeding with plans to reopen under a blended learning model for some students February 1st -- before staff is vaccinated.

After two months of studying rates of COVID-19 among students in classrooms, Ohio is dropping quarantine recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for some students.

Fourteen hundred career and technical education students are scheduled to return to a pair of Columbus City School campuses today, and the district has signed a memo of understanding with the teachers' union on protecting staff and students.  

Thursday morning the City of Columbus will announce  the opening of Learning Extension Centers around the city, where students can get reliable internet, meals and some of the wraparound services they would normally get in school. 

Columbus City Schools abruptly announced Tuesday afternoon that a planned return to part time in-person learning has been postponed for most students until mid-January.
