City Of Columbus Gives Children's Hospital 15 Million Dollar Tax Break

Columbus City Council last night approved a ten-year, 15 million dollar tax break for Children’s Hospital to add 2 thousand jobs as part of its 189 million dollar expansion. Columbus Development Director Steve Schoeny.

The hospital, which requested the tax break, pledges to renovate the interior of several buildings, construct a new outpatient-care facility, build a parking garage, a center to power the facility, a park and a clinical building with an adjoining parking garage. The hospital also promises to invest nearly 6 million dollars in city programs fighting infant mortality, fostering early childhood education, and improving the South Side area. The hospital last year estimated the expansion cost at 130 million, with the additional money needed to add another parking garage and outfit an operating facility within the hospital.
