Accused Danville Cop Killer Pleads Guilty, Gets Life In Prison

The man accused of killing a Danville police officer in 2016 has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated murder and other charges. 34-year-old Herschel Jones III pleaded guilty and was sentenced Wednesday in the death of  Officer Thomas Cottrell. Jones' ex-girlfriend warned police he was "looking to kill a cop." Death penalty specifications were dropped as part of the plea agreement.
