State Law Could Keep Crew SC In Columbus

Ohio Public Radio

A state law could be invoked to keep the Crew SC in Columbus.  Central Ohio Republican State Representative Mike Duffey has asked the Ohio Attorney General's office to sue Crew owner Anthony Precourt under a law passed when the Cleveland Browns moved to Baltimore after the 1995 season.  The law bans pro sports teams playing in taxpayer-funded facilities from leaving their city without written agreements, six months notice and an offer for the host city to purchase the team.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
