Republican Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien has recused himself from an investigation into potential criminal conduct by officials at the Electronic Classroom of tomorrow.
O'Brien received campaign donations from ECOT founder Bill Lager, but says he is stepping aside because of a staff-related conflict. An assistant county prosecutor was formerly married to ECOT's superintendent when the school closed in January. O'Brien plans to bring in an outsider to review Ohio Auditor David Yost's finding that ECOT officials withheld information and mislead state education regulators.
