Pike County Prosecutor Rob Junk is asking a judge to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate allegations of misconduct in office again Sheriff Charles Reader.
The nature of the allegations have not been disclosed by the prosecutor or the state auditor's office, which says it received a complaint about a Pike County matter and opened an investigation. An auditor's spokesperson also says Junk has named an attorney from the office’s Public Integrity Assurance Team as special prosecutor in the case. Junk suggests Robert Smith of the auditor's office be appointed special counsel, saying he has handled similar cases in the past. The Chillicothe Gazette has reported misconduct allegations were made against Reader during a nasty 2016 campaign season.
