Global Education

For our first episode, host Patricia Demetriou discusses Global Education and its subtopics with Florida International University (FIU) Associate Professor Hilary Landorf and the Assistant Director of FIU’s Office of Global Learning Yenisleidy Simon Mengana.

We will learn about diversity and how to embrace it. We will also answer several questions including:

What is the right way to expose our children to live in a multicultural environment?

How to become a better global citizen?

How to connect with people from different parts of the world?

How to create healthy relationships with others?

What are the topics that our school system needs to teach our children, as well as the values and principles that our children must learn at home?

Dr. Hilary Landorf is the founding Executive Director of the Office of Global Learning Initiatives at Florida International University. This Office oversees FIU's university-wide initiative, Global Learning for Global Citizenship, winner of the Institute of International Education's 2016 Heiskell Award for Internationalizing the Campus. She is an Associate Professor in the School of Education and Human Development, and leader of FIU's Master of Science degree program in International and Intercultural Education. Since 2016 she has served as the Executive Director of the Comparative and International Education Society, the oldest and largest of 47 such associations in the world, with the mission of fostering cross-cultural understanding and scholarship.
