Local Coroner Reports Surge In Drug Overdose Deaths

octf.franklincountyohio.gov

The Franklin County Coroner's Office has issued a warning after a recent surge in drug overdose deaths.

18 deaths have been reported in the past week, a much higher rate than the county has seen so far this year. Preliminary tests show most were related to fentanyl.  Most were reported in west Columbus, with others in Gahanna and Reynoldsburg. The Ohio Department of Health last month noted a statewide rise in fatal overdoses involving mixtures of fentanyl and other drugs.
