In this episode, host Dan Skinner (@danielrskinner) interviewed Daveda Cunningham, Program Manager at ChildSight Ohio/Helen Keller International; Zulma Zabala, Chief Executive Officer at East End Neighborhood House; and Tracy Davidson, Vice President of Quality and Population Health Strategy for UnitedHealthcare.
The four grants provided as part of included:
- East End Neighborhood House received $260,000 to address transportation barriers and social isolation for youth and seniors in Cleveland’s Greater Buckeye neighborhood by funding two 15-passenger vans and on-demand ride services through Uber Health.
- Helen Keller International received $250,000 to provide school- and community-based vision screenings, comprehensive eye exams and glasses to low-income children and adults in northeast Ohio.
- $95,000 to Senior Citizen Resources to fund two vans to replace outdated vehicles and to expand access to transportation services for northeast Ohio seniors.
- And $500,000 to the Ohio Association of Foodbanks to fund new and leased refrigerated trucks, refrigerators and freezers at food banks and food pantries across the state, and resources for safely handling and effectively marketing fresh produce. This Ohio Association of Foodbanks grant was also matched by the State of Ohio, which means that it totals $1 through a public-private partnership.
